With decades of combined construction experience we understand the importance of communication. You are the ones that will be living in your home – it should be exactly the way you want it. Guessing what you want or making assumptions is not how we operate.
Sometimes the way you originally visualized your home, based on your plans, may change once construction begins. Whether it’s a simple change or something substantial, we will work with you to make sure your home is perfect.
We do this by encouraging regular visits to the jobsite. Out of the area? Can’t make regular visits? No Problem. We will provide you with access to our online client portal to streamline our communication. Once logged in, you can see the progress of your project with weekly photos – sometimes daily, depending on the phase of the project.
Discuss your project:
- What are your goals?
- What style of home?
- What is your budget?
- What is your time frame?
This is a critical step to ensure that you are getting the home you want. If you don’t have a set of plans we will work with you and one of our preferred designer/architects to start the design process. Already have plans? No problem – bring us your plans and we’ll start the review process.
With a full set of plans we can now review the project and determine the quality and quantity of materials needed. We will be in constant contact with you regarding the type of material you want – e.g., block foundation (standard or ICF) or stem wall, roof type and color, all the way down to the finish trim. This can be a tedious process, but allows for us to provide you with the most accurate and complete proposal.
Now that we have reviewed your plans and determined exactly what you want in your home, we will submit our proposal for your review. Ideally, we would have a face to face meeting to go over our proposal to answer any questions you may have, but we understand meeting in person may not be practical for clients that live out of the area.
Once you have reviewed our proposal and made any necessary changes, both parties will then sign the contract. The contract is designed to protect both of our interests. If at any point during the construction process, you would like to make any changes to the project, we can accomplish that with a Change Order.
It is now time to obtain permits. We are sticklers here and we permit everything required by the State of Oregon.
Now it’s time to build, which is usually the longest part of the process. We will be in touch on a regular basis and encourage the home owner to stop in and see what we are doing. For clients that are not able to visit the job site, we will provide you with access to our online client portal where we will provide weekly updated pictures of your project.
At this phase the project is complete and we have passed the final inspection! We do a final walk through with the owners and hand over the keys to your new home. We also provide you with any necessary documents – your home warranty, permits, and “green building” certificates (if applicable).
